[Effort] Adding Bluetooth File Transfer (OBEX) and other services

Set apart the funnies stories, exchanging files is probably the most important function in a good smart phone, not to talk about business phone, obviously after making phone calls and receiving messages [something where the iphone is already lame]

I think we can forget Apple to fix this any soon since they are so worried about us infringing copyright sending songs around...

WHAT SONGS!!! UNCLE STEVE WHAT ABOUT MY $%^$& PICTURES, NOTES, CONTACTS, INFO and all other things we exchange in the daily life as social beings.
What is the point of loading a phone with such an amazing OS when you can do the things you have set the phone to do with a simple PLC?

When Erica did a poll on what is the most sought after app, the phone Bluetooth came out first. I think this means something and it can't be ignored.

Please guys, let's give a look into this...

yeah. I don't miss mms or other basic features that's missing.

The first thing I notice is the "lack of" Bluetooth functions.
Most 3 yrs old phone can transfer photos via bluetooth. Come on!!

Bluetooth for photos, contacts transfer is a Must! I hope Apple listens to the users. I filled out their feedback form but I doubt we'll see anything anytime soon.

Look at the pretty simple multiple recipient sms feature. It's been 6 months and Nothing!

I think bluetooth file transfer will come with iphone2. Don't think Apple will address it for the first gen iphone.

Apple likes to simplifies things and take out features that's too complicated OR not useful. It usually works out great. But bluetooth file transfer is a must! Come one Steve, if you don't use that feature, doesn't mean most user don't use it. If you think file transfer is too complicated for you, doesn't mean it's too complicated to most average users!

Does this mean that it can't be done till apple publish their own framework?

If the Dev team can put together such a brilliant app such the installer can't anyone work out a full blast bluetooth protocol on the iphone?

I dug a little more and found some more information.

The bluetooth is a CSR (Cambridge Silicon Radio) 41B14 BlueCore4ROM chipset

The bluetool folder contains 3 script files

They contain init and PSKEY values to init/setup the chipset.

i've noticed that when i pair the iPhone with my laptop using bluetooth, the phone lose the wifi connection until i turn bluetooth off.

This is a great kick start!

For what i see on the document the 41B14 BlueCore4ROM chipset is capable of supporting all the function that we would like to see on the iphone and probably more.
It's again the same sort of situation that you have having a full OS X and not making use of it.

Anyway, the issue then is pure coding. Which at least make things feasible.
