[PdaNet] Now available for the iPhone
I have just noticed in Cydia that PDANET has been made available to us but I do not know how to set it up. It is supposed to do something like iPhoneModem but via wifi and it is a piece of software that has existed for quite some time, being used in other pdas, treos, etc.
Anyone used this before / knows how to set it up? Do we need to also install an application at the PC/Mac end?
iPhone 4.0, Vodafone Greece.

Seems to work good, what I like about it is that I dont have to setup any proxy on my PC or anthying and works with IE and outlook email, so far so good

it would be great if you could provide some step-by-step instructions on how to use it for the rest of us
I mean ok I installed it from Cydia, now what?
thanx in advance.

YES! Got it. Teathering on the iPhone!
PDANET wording was a little confusing, said to setup ad-hoc on iphone. Actually:
1. Setup new wireless connection on PC, choose ad-hoc(computer to computer), name the connection something, in my case 'iPhone'
2. Open browser on iphone, just to get the internet connection going and active
3. On iPhone, in wi-fi settings, under choose a network, look for 'iPhone'
4. Launch PDANet
5. Apple will have to come out with one hell of an update to get me to go to next version that will prevent this capability, I'm at 2.1 forever! LOL
Now if someone could please provide me with the rest of missing functionality from this sorry excuse for a pda i'll be happy:
X Teathering app - found PDANET
- Camera video recording app
- notes with outlook sync or some way to upload notes
X book reader - found ruBooks
- orb (blocked)
- tasks with outlook sync or descent task/project manager
X file browser - found iPhone browser
- copy paste
- sort contact by category
Prior to iPhone did Mac users carry around a rotary phone? They seem to have no idea what a pda phone is capable of.

Cycorder -> camera video recording app (find it in Cydia)
TaskData -> syncs tasks with Outlook (find it in the App Store - costs $12.99 right now); see a description here: http://www.igoapps.com/page/detail/TaskData/3959/

Do you have to keep your screen on,
or does it continue to work even on standby?
