I was wondering if there is way in which we can modify the stock application so that I can add the symbols from a stock exchange of another country. yahoo finance has this option for most of the stock exchanges so there should be a way to manupilate the app

You can do that without modification. The problem is that Yahoo's symbol search is really bad. Both in the iPhone and on http://finance.yahoo.com/lookup.

It doesn't give the right results when you type in a partial name and then search. If i type in 'eric' and select 'world market' when i do a search on the above url, i don't get the expected results. In this case, I was looking for 'ERICA.ST', but it does not show up in the results. However, if I type in 'erica', it finds what I am looking for.

So, if you know exactly the symbol, type it in and you'll get it in the result list so you can just add it. If you don't know the exact symbol, it can still be there, but hard to find due to a badly written symbol search on Yahoo's part.
