master.passwd reverts to original?
Finally figured out why after a restore ssh wasn't installing (after untaring, my mac wasn't preserving permissions for some reason).
Anyhow, I update the master.passwd file with a new password for myself, as well as a /bin/bash instead of starting /bin/sh. However, after any reboot of the phone, the master.passwd file reverts to the original, and the /bin/sh binary gets corrupted somehow, and mobile terminal won't boot.
The only way to fix this is to run iphuc and drop a new sh binary in /bin and then i'm back to using the standard old root password until I change it again. One thing I did notice after the first reboot (after I had gotten SSH working) that the sh and bash binary, as well as the /etc/shells file I uploaded all appeared in DamagedFiles in the root of the phone.
Also, sidenote, I can't run pico from the terminal on my mac when sshed into the phone. I set the terminal type to vt100, but it still won't work. Any ideas on that?
If anyone has any ideas, it would be greatly appreciated.
Not totally sure what your problem is, but I used this as my guide!
