Making a custom iPhone dictionary
Hi everyone.
I live in South Africa and I write 100% of my smses in Afrikaans.
I am getting the cold shoulder from Apple and Vodacom with regards to getting a Afrikaans dictionary for the iPhone.
Ive tried smsing with the dutch and english dictionary , trying to make it learn words but its just not the same.
After much frustration Ive had to switch off Auto correct.
Ive decided that seeing no one will help with one , I will make my own and release it to the public .. There are 6 Million people in the world who speak Afrikaans and Im sure a few of them also has the iPhone.
I am in need of guidance .. is there a tutorial on how to make your own iPhone dictionary ? I am running the latest firmware (2.2.1) and my iphone(3g) is jailbroken.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The art of dictionary modding has faded a bit after Apple started to include many languages with the iPhone firmware. But before those times, there was a lot going on. The format of the dictionaries has changed somewhat, but maybe the discussions from those times can help. Here are a few links from my "archive":

iPhone 3GS / 3.1.2 JB (PwnageTool) / 04.26.08 carrier-locked, Carrier Logo Fixer / Cydia / 1000 posts on Hackint0sh
Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).
