I can't reproduce this problem on my iPhone. Don't know why. Another user reported that it's fine on his iPhone too. On mine, I can type 4 é or è one after the other without having any trouble in SMS or Notes. Try putting back the default UIKit to see if it fixes the problem. Or check maybe if the problem appears with other chars. You can also send me your original UIKit. To check if it's the same as the one I used.

I have the bug too, on two different phones with 1.0.2. But it doesn't occur always in the same way. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. And sometimes it occurs even when you don't use two accented chars concurrently. I suspect it's related to the automatic correction feature.

You got it. The auto correction feature was disabled on mine. If I enable it, it also crashes when typing two accented chars. It seems that this feature doesn't support accented chars. Looks like Apple has one more thing to fix before coming to Europe

I can confirm this. I disabled auto correction on both phones, and no more crashes.
Thanks again for your time!

Some people have been trying to do that, but haven't been able to make it work yet. I think we are better off waiting for the iPod touch to be released, and grab the localized dictionary from its firmware.

OK, there is one BIG annoyance with this mod, since it replaces the "@" sign with "ê". On the full keyboard (as in Notes) it's fine, because the "@" replaces another char elsewhere and you can type it that way. But when you are typing an e-mail address, say, in MobileMail, the keyboard changes and is now simplified, you have only the chars that can be used in an address. And the "@" still produces an "ê"! So basically you can't enter an e-mail address in any e-mail field, and suddently this whole swiss-fr keyboard hack is useless. Too bad!

Interesting. I'm not using emails, so I didn't noticed this. Will put the @ where it was. Will put accented chars on the left and move ( ) elsewhere. Stay tune.

Here is a new version. I moved accented chars to avoid problem with @. It remains a workaround as long as Apple does not provide a true solution. I have only updated keys in common keyboards. Will spend some time to update others (such as URL or email keyboard). Download here.
