Hi, maybe i found place, where is info about language stored, so you can try to create folder with localization, mod this file and reboot - you will see...
/private/var/root/Library/Preferences/.GlobalPreferences.plist
It's again binary plist file.
warning - .files are usualy not visible on Unix OSes, like Mac OS X - i can't see this file in Finder, but it's there (and i can modify it with plist editor)
I don't have iPhone at hand, i found this file on system restore image. I hope that it will work.

can't make it. need to find the place to change whole language setting. perhaps will need to get more idea form OS X.

jerrylee: i can't say you, if it's REALY there, but it should, because it's on restore image. And if you can't see it - maybe it's hidden because of unix file system, unfortunately i can't say this for sure. But try to find help from someone with iPhone before creating this file there.

My mistake. it's there. I got it from iPhone change AppleLocale to zh_TW and put it back....

hmm....not working. I am going to take a deep look to see if I did anything wrong.

Updated: now it's interesting. The date become Chinese when you try to unlock iPhone.

just made another test with .GlobalPreferences.plist, and this time I changed the order of AppleLanguage. replaced en with zh-TW in first place.

Reboot & Boom!! it's there.

so that means we can put other languages into it and without touch original system.

That's correct, Glen.tw.
if system can't find folder zh_TW, it will reads strings from English.lproj. ^^

Hi fedorr,

First, you need a tool to convert binary format of these file to text/ascii ones. Try this. Then you need a editor to edit it. Notepad might not be a good one. I am using UltraEdit here.
