Is anyone aware what OS and GUI the iPhone clone makers are using ?

If I look at the meizu GUI

then it appears to me that they are able to achieve similar functionality like the iPhone. I can only guess that they are building on some existing Linux or BSD GUI.

It would be really nice if an open source GUI would be available so that iPhones and alikes could run completely open source. That would grind phone prices to the ground and make "iPhones" a mass opensource phenomenon with the Chinese supplying cheap standardized hardware.

If these clone makers are able to make a good GUI in months then the open source community should be able to do it too IMO.

Any ideas ?
