Integration of pledit.exe through WinSCP and iphone tunnel suite
If you follow this procedure, you will not need anymore neither wifi or internet through a URL plist or strings converter, to edit any plist or strings file!!!
The only soft you need are :
-WinSCP
-iphone tunnel suite
-pledit.exe
You can google to download those 3 files.
-open WinSCP and check advanced options
-click Preferences under other general options
-click Editors on the left side in Preferences
-click Add
-check external editor, and browse to pledit.exe
-use this editor for following files: *.plist;*.strings
-check only:force text transfer mode for files edited in external editor
-now click Commands on the left side in Preferences
-click Add:
For description: Pledit.exe
For custom command: pledit.exe "!"(there is a space between pledit.exe and "!")
-click on the custom command Pledit.exe, then click on Edit
-check only Local command
-check ok, you are almost done!
Now, the most important thing is to have any plist file AND strings file on your decktop, click right on properties for both files, and on the case Open with , browse to pledit.exe, in order to to generalise on your computer all plist and strings files to be opened with pledit.exe.
Open iphone tunnel suite, click itunnel then file browser, go to any plist file or strings file through WinSCP, click right and click open : they will open, from now on, in editable XML mode. You can edit them in situ or locally in your iphone and save the changes:
HOURRA!!!!!!No more drag and copy, then go through internet for converting in XML, then specially for the 3G, convert back to BINARY ( 3G does not support XML files) etc.........
Nevertheless, before editing, always make a copy in case it does not work!
ENJOY
PS: thanks to Jim Danner, here is the download link for pledit.exe:
http://www.mediafire.com/?m6iu4zwo4s3 or
http://rapidshare.com/files/152356185/pledit.rar
The 2 other soft are easily googlable.

You are kidding?Right?
That only means you can edit any plist or strings file in situ of the iphone without wifi or internet, and reading or editing those files in an XML mode, that is to say a readable mode, and not a binary non readable one!!!!!!!!Final Dot!!!!

@docomar: Thanks for the info. That is sweet. Now I won't have to copy .plist files onto the computer and convert them in order to edit them!
----- If you need additional assistance, feel free to send me a PM. Cheers! -----

Just for a good perspective: the procedure described here is optimal for those who can't use their wifi connection to SSH into their iPhone. For example docomar has a slow and unreliable connection.
If your wifi connection to your phone is fine, the shorter and quicker setup procedure described in the other thread [link] is probably optimal -- it allows you a faster start of the ssh connection and opening files with a double-click. Use whichever you prefer!

Installing Cydia programs on a phone that has no internet connection: read this.
Editing binary .plist, .strings, .nib and .xib files:
* on your computer: Windows tool / conversion website.
* on your iPhone: convert those files in a terminal with plutil (installed with Erica Utilities) or edit them with iFile (Cydia links).

@Jim Danner
How about a different perspective : to my very modest knowledge, USB connection is way faster than any wifi connection, not only mine : it is instantaneous!
There is also no doubt that with a USB connection, you do not need a router, wifi or internet connection : a USB port is enough! Moreover, it works even if the iphone is in an idle state ( black screen ) ! That is why I am not the only one to talk about a more stable and reliable connection!
And if still not convinced, look up this thread :
http://www.hackint0sh.org/forum/show...e+tunnel+suite
To me, the iphone tunnel suite did bring a real and positive revolution to the way you SSH to the iphone! Now combined with pledit.exe and of course WinSCP :
it is definitely a SWEET DREAM come through!!!!!!!!!!
That is why, Jim, I am talking about a faster and more stable and reliable connection : no matter what, your connection with the iphone cannot be broken, even if the internet or wifi connection goes off!!!!
And, it is definitely NOT BECAUSE DOCOMAR HAS A SLOW AND UNRELIABLE CONNECTION .
You can and obviously have the liberty to have your own and personal opinion, but you cannot induce our readers in error or emit an erroneous statement : when you talk about a shorter and quicker optimal setup procedure or a faster start of the ssh connection, you can compare with the USB connection : the start of the ssh connection is not faster, it is INSTANTANEOUS, and does not rely upon a wifi or internet connection!!!!!!!!
That is again, Jim, why I am talking about a safer, faster and more stable and reliable ssh connection, whether you like it or not!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sincerely and honnestly.

Hey relax, you don't have to convince anyone. People are wise enough to pick whatever connection method works best for them. As I said above, they both have pros and cons. Wifi is started and set up faster, USB cable has faster download speed (though the bandwidth you need for 10 kB plists is minimal) and may be more stable - and if you don't have a router the choice is easy... There's a use for both ways of making an SSH connection!

I am relax, and I never tried to convince anyone to use any method : I am just reporting simple and obvious facts!
Wifi is started and set up "fast" : correct, but again USB is instantaneous!
Even if you have a router, the choice is easy!!!
Let just wise people pick whatever method work best for them, but also let just state simple and obvious facts, without false orientation!
Those simple and obvious facts are not mine, I am just reporting them!
PS : Remember, and read your posts back : you started me first, I am just answering the : "For example docomar has a slow and unreliable connection" !!!!!!! WTF ???

No, if you have a router that is already working without problems and your phone is already connected to the wifi network, it is a waste of time to take the additional steps of
- looking for the USB cable,
- plugging it in,
- starting iPhone Tunnel Suite,
- and then not being able to open files with a double-click.
For people in that situation, SSH over Wifi saves time and mouseclicks (unless the donwload speed is an issue -- which it can't be for these tiny plist files).
In other cases, where wifi is not yet set up or the connection is flaky, the USB cable is warmly recommended.

You recommend USB here "to get rid of that damn, unreliable and slow wifi connection".
Doesn't sound like someone who is happy with his wifi connection. If you don't have a "damn, unreliable and slow wifi connection", why did you say that?
