[Installer (3.0b10)] Refresh Failed and Sloooooow
So i used to use installer a lot...with no problems.
I have installed tons of sources, then i deleted all of them and installed the "community sources", the "shai's rouge sources", and a few other similar "all-in-one" source installers.
Again...this worked fine for a while....but recently i found that refreshing would get slower and slower over my local home wifi network. It used to take 1 minute tops...and now it was stretching up to 5 or 10 minutes using same amount of sources.
now...it just wont do nothing.
when i click on refresh...it hangs on "checking sources for a while...then eventually goes to refresh. Sometimes it will move the progress bar to various levels before giving me the "failed to refresh" error message, while other times the progress bar wont move.
i have deleted all sources except the AppTapp official.
I have uninstalled all community source installers.
i have uninstalled all papps that i recently installed in case they were causing a bug.
BUT...it STILL wont refresh and still takes forever.
what can i do?????
I had exactly the same problem and was able to fix it with these steps:
- log in to iPhone via SSH
- launch /Applications/Installer.app/Installer manually
- in Installer select Sources->Refresh and wait
You should now see each Source URL in your terminal as Installer tries to update them.
When it starts to hang do the following:
- Identify the last source it tried to sync with
- press CTRL-C to kill Installer
- restart Installer
- remove the source
- try again
With this steps I was able to spot a unresponsive installer source which just locked up Installer.app
Hope this works for you.
I have different problem thou... when I install something and exit installer it should refresh the springboard with the new icons, but now I just have it on "refresh" which
seems to be going, and going and going but nothing happens...so I have to manually restart the phone
