OK, I am running 2.0 FW and I have no plan ( right now ) to go through the process of upgrading/unlocking to 2.0.x. mu 1st gen iphone. It seemed like Installer was going to be available via Cydia (by the way , Cydia rocks and developers are just realizing now that waiting for installer to be out was worhtless ) or even as a self instaling app ??!?!

Dont think Installer and Cydia devs have a lot of love for each other, not that its some kind of hill billy feud, just competition. I would recommend updating to 2.0.2 when an unlock comes out as it is much more stable than 2.0

This is exactly the point even though it does not apply to me ( 1st gen iphone ) . The Dev Team is discouraging anyone to upgrade their 3G iphone FW and conseguently (if they care for an unlock) their BB because they are working on the unlock of the 2.0 FW.
But those with 2.0 cannot get the Installer because of this ( please correct me if I am wrong ) .

I haven't tried but if you want installer on 2.0fw you should be able to take the Installer.bundle from the 2.0.2 pwnagetool extract the installer.app files and use Openssh to install it into your phones root/Applications folder.
