First of all, I'm not asking for links or how to get the games.
I have them already but I can not figure out how to make them work properly.

i'm more than willing to pay for the game if I like, I'm just not willing to pay to find out it sucks, this is my logic behind installing a cracked game, sorry if this offends ppl.

at this point I just want to try it first and if i do like, then i'll uninstall it and buy it legit via app store.


first method if you have the file in IPA format

Good job on finding this special pack of super specials for your iphone/Ipod touch.

Req: Itunes 7.7
Firmware 2.0
Jailbroken ipod/iphone (see bottom for details)
An SSH program such as CuteFTP or putty (google them)
SSH downloaded through Cydia

Steps: 1) SSH into your device and navigate to /System/Library/PrivateFrameWorks/MobileInstallation.framework
2) Find the file MobileFramework and rename it to MobileInstallation.framework.bak
3) Copy over the MobileFramework from this folder into the same folder on your device
4) change the permissions on the new file to 775 NOT 755 755 = BAD
5) REBOOT your device
PHEW HARD PART IS OVER!
6) double click on the file that contains the app you want and itunes should pop open
7) plug in your device and BAM the app should start loading on
8) Enjoy your new app!!

JAILBREAK:

In order to jailbreak your device you need a copy of winpwn or pwnage (google) and a copy of the 2.0 Firmware.
Follow the instructions given to you and in no time you'll have your own jailbroken 2.0 iphone/ipod touch!!

i have several dozens games that end with the IPA extension

i have followed the steps outlined, i double click on the game file and itunes recognizes it and adds but when i try to sync it returns an error x800001 or something like that. so i'm unable to make them sync

there is another method, if you have the game extracted, monkeyball.app

Instructions:

1. Make sure you are running on jailbroken 2.0 firmware. If you don't know how to do this: google it.
2. Run Cydia, install OpenSSH (if you don't already have it) and then press the HOME button. If you do not know how to SSH: http://youtube.com/watch?v=DA2tGJr-rGo
3. Use Cyberduck (Mac) or WinSCP (Windows) and connect to your iPod/iPhone. (You can view your iPhone/iPod's IP needed to connect in the Wifi settings.)
and go to /private/var/Mobile and create Documents folder and chmod it 777
5. Go to the /applications (NOT /private/var/mobile/applications, it will not work and cause all your appstore apps to be deleted) . You will notice all your jailbroken apps are there. Copy *APPNAMEHERE*.app to that folder. Chmod *APPNAMEHERE*.app 775.
6. Respring your Springboard or just Restart and it will appear on the iPhone Home Screen.

so i've tried both methods, on this one, I follow instructions, upload the game, i respring and sure enough i see the game icon but when I launch it throws me back out to springboard, so it seems the game won't really launch even though it looks like it might.



has anyone had any luck making the cracked games work?
i'm not sure what else to try and I made sure to chmod the folder and files as said but its a no go

any advice on how to make the games work would be helpful as I have alot fo them and would like to see if any are worth buying.

ok i will try that but everything, well i should be able to do a recursive properties change.
which i'm pretty sure I've done that already.

i use winSCP, i dont know how to do it via terminal, never seems to work for me.

so if the app blows up and throws me to springboard, i can safely assume its a permissions issue right??

Doesn't make as much sense in another context, in my opinion. Perhaps you should lobby Apple into modifying the app store to provide demos before buying rather than stealing the final product and then deciding whether to pay for it afterwards.

IMO thats lame. food is different and if its bad you can always complain or not leave a tip.

most stores you can buy a game and return it with no problems
problem with app store once u buy it, thats it, turd or not you are stuck with it
and i refuse to play into that silly game

i'd rather try first then pay for it if its worth it

jsut like downloading MP3s,
i download an mp3 and if i like I buy the album, thats the way I've always done it.

some stores let u listen to the cd first

I agree. I edited my post above at the same time you were typing apparently. Why not look into efforts to change the App store rather than trying to be an honest thief?

Good point. I don't want to see quality app development going in the tubes. While ninja_pimp may pay for apps after he gets the full version, I would say he's in the distinct minority. I also agree with n_p that we shouldn't be paying for crap. It would be better to get some sort of demo option in the store rather than making easier for piracy.
