[Help] Native app gone after upgrade & QuickPwn
Hi guys, a little help please. I had my phone in 2.0 and had categories installed. i upgraded to 2.1 and quickpwn everything worked ok, but all my jailbroken apps were gone. it looked like a fresh restore with all apple apps and cydia/installer. i was kind of hoping the old apps would stay since i used upgrade and not restore.
i then restored my backup of my iphone with itunes, and all my apps that i had folders were gone. i then redid the whole quickpwn process and installed SSH before restoring my phone. So now i have access to all the files in my phone, and my apps are still missing.
So my question is, what files do i need to mess with to fix this?

thanks for the title edit mods.
i have a theory. so im guessing categories basically edits some kind of springboard file, telling it to show certain icons. which file would that be? ive restored my phone again and am now about to quickpwn.
so if i just copied that file, then restored the backup, then overwrote that file, i should be all good?

I don't know if you can get them back without reinstalling one by one. As far as I know, this is the right way to do the upgrade: How To Upgrade In iTunes

oh no i dont want to get them back. my problem is that i had a lot of apple apps and Cydia itself in folders.
after a restore and everything, cydia and those apps basically get "rehidden" but i cant see them because i dont have categories. its on my phone...its just some file is preventing me from seeing them.

this happened to me too. Just redownload poof or bossprefs or anything else that can unhide hidden applications (like categories does) and unhide them. I think it does something in the application folder, like changes a setting or something, that tells the OS to not display the app on springboard. I believe the hidden-ness is preserved when backing up applications in itunes. so yeah, i think youre going to have to unhide them with an app like poof.
sorry if the post was hard to follow, long day and i feel terrible
