In my iphone, the installer was working well and once it asked for a update and i updated it. After that installer quits automatically while installing or refreshing. Then i unistalled it and installed the old version installer and again had the same problem. Someone please help me to correct it.

Ah, I see. The recent version of Installer for firmware 1.x is not compatible with 1.0.2, thats the problem. There are two ways out. You probably need a working installer to virginize the iPhone before you upgrade to firmware 2.1, is this right? Is your iPhone unlocked at firmware 1.0.2 with AnySIM 1.0.2?

Please answer the questions, a how-to get installer back will follow

Actually, i bought an unlocked iphone and i didnt do anything extra to unlock it and its working well except the installer. I didnt think of upgrading to 2.1. Does upgrading to 2.1 cause any problem or does it lock the phone? Help me. I am not an expert in all this.

At Firmware 1.0.2 the unlock solution AnySIM 1.0.2 was used a lot. The solution works for 1.0.2 but caused damage to the seczone and you might end with a brick if you try to upgrade.

Two szenarios:

1. Get back Installer and stay with firmware 1.0.2
You must have OpenSSH and BSD Subsystem installed on your iPhone. Dont know if this is the case but it is most likely.

Download the Mac version of Nullrivers AppTapp installer to your PC from here, even if you are on Windows. Inside the package (folder on Windows) you will find "Installer.app" (at /Contents/Resources). Copy it to your desktop.

To get Installer on the iPhone and working you need an SFTP client. On windows google for WinSCP and download/install it on your PC. On a Mac use Cyberduck or Fugu for SFTP.
On the iPhone setup Wi-Fi. Connect to the iPhone via SFTP (your iPhones IP, root as username and alpine as password) and copy "Installer.app" from your desktop into /Applications on the iPhone replacing the present version.
Restart the iPhone and start Installer then. Dont allow Installer to update itself.



2nd Option: Get back Installer, virginize the iPhone, Restore to firmware 2.1 and use Quickpwn to jailbreak, activate, unlock.

1.Same procedure as above. Then goto "Setting, set "Auto-Lock" to never (verrrrry important)
2. Start Installer (dont allow to update), add i.unlock.no to sources and refresh.
3. Update Installer will pop up again, just IGNORE it
4. Start Installer, goto "Unlocking Tools -> The Virginizer" and hit "Install"
5. Virginizing takes 10 minutes NEVER interrupt, you might brick the iPhone!
6. After its done, immediately restore to firmware 2.1 in iTunes 8
7. Read the Quickpwn (2G) section, use Quickpwn for Mac or Windows to jailbreak/activate/unlock. If you are on a Mac you have to use Bootneuter to unlock after Quickpwn. Check the section, its all in there.

Once done, connect to iTunes "setup as new phone", not "from backup" adn then sync to get back your Music, Videos, addresses...
