Found this wonderful native app which allows over-the-air gCal-iPhone sync.

However when I try to get my Birthdays cal. it says that it's receiving 91 events, but afterwards just a few seems to appear on my iPhone cal. And the one's that gets imported appears 2 days in a row everytime :/
Still on 1.1.1 waiting for 2.0 =)

I'm getting all the dates but some full day events are moving back to 23:00 on the previous day.

The app creator suggested the following fix, but its still the same.

In iPhone : Settings->General->Date&Time-> Time Zone (both)
In Google : 1. Setting->General->Current TimeZone
2. Setting->Calendar->(Choose Calendar)->Calendar TimeZone

I did not know which TimeZone of iPhone affect that. because my iPod does not allow system timezone changed. but, in google, you must set General TimeZone when upload.

on my iphone screen when i have sync'd it shows the Date / Time / +0100 - i guess this is the problem but i can't find where to change it?

any suggestions?

NemusSync works perfectly with me !

Faced some problems initially but when I typed a smaller Account name without punctuations, It just worked !

Now fixed that the imported events was added 2days in a row (had wrong timezone on phone).
Still it just imports a fraction of my events.. for June I get 1 imported to my cal of 9 events And yes, they are all in the same Calendar on gCal :/

I'm very happy I found NemusSync to synchronize Google Calendar with the native iPhone calendar MobileCal. It works fine on 1.1.4, although I find its interface not very intuitive (you have to tap "Save" after inputting data, unlike in the iPhone Settings).

My reason to post this is so that people who search for "Google Calendar" will find this thread. Not many people would search for "gCal"...

Also, have any of you guys got it periodically updating your calendar, or are you manually syncing it yourself by pressing the button?

Yeah, mine updates automatically. I followed the guide on the nemussync website (http://www.nemustech.com/iPhone/NemusSync.html - right at the bottom), but the place to put the plist file was different on my phone.

Instead of:
~/Library/LaunchDaemons/

I had to put it in:
/system/library/LaunchDaemons/

It will then periodically update with google.

Q: Is it Possible to sync calendar periodically?
A: From 0.5.7, NemusSync can run in command line mode.

I created a simple .plist (http://www.nemustech.com/iPhone/com.paf78.autoNS.plist) file to run NemusSync via launchd every x seconds (set to 300 below):
Instructions:
1) Save to: ~/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.paf78.autoNS.plist
2) Load using: launchctl load ~/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.paf78.autoNS.plist
or reboot.

NemusSync is a wonderful program. I downloaded it when it was first released and have updated it continously and has always worked for me - no problems.

The only issue I am having is that it cannot differentiate between calendar events for different users. You see, I am also sharing my boss's and our administrator's calendars (so that we all know what's going on) and whereas on google calendar each person is color-coded and their events are clearly marked, when I use nemussync to import them they all appear as simple events and can not differentiate which event belongs to who. Anybody else have this problem?
