Ok what am I missing. I copied the new version to my app folder and permissions are 755 but when I open the app it just opens hangs then closes

Hmmm...I just reinstalled it to test it, and it worked on mine. I guess make sure the permissions are good for both the directory and the executable. Sometimes low OS partition space can cause problems for applications...you can type "df -h" in the terminal. Or maybe reboot your system...sometimes things just act up.
Let me know if it still doesn't work.

Are you trying to load it via Safari or Installer? I don't think the Safari plugin for Installer works yet, so you have to do it manually...go into Installer and click over to the right most tab, select Edit, and so on. If you mean that it gives a lot of text via Installer, then that's new to me.

awww I forgot to check permissions on the exe I only did the main folder. I am sure that is the issue. I will check when I get home

Thank you JLA, I've got it to work manually as you described.

Last time I checked, the mod-my-ifone repository still had the old version of Garf (0.15). They are supposed to be putting the new one on (0.17) anytime, but if you run the old one, you might want to make sure to run something like NESApp, Piano, the Gameboy emu, (or perhaps any other program that uses sound) to make sure the sound mechanism shuts down ok and doesn't keep running the whole time...probably a bug in the firmware...the newer Garf doesn't have this problem.


(If anyone is curious as to what I'm talking about, type in "top -l1" in the terminal to look at the list of processes, and look at the thread count for mediaserve before and after the old Garf runs, and then run NESApp and exit, and check again. It should be one less.)

I believe the new version (0.17) is now in the Installer repository.

I've put Garf 0.25b up on the MMI Installer repository.


New for 0.25b:
* Customizable speed settings
* Now records high scores
* Better/smoother sound, possibly fixing an earlier bug where it would sound odd by round 10.
