[Effort] Adding Bluetooth File Transfer (OBEX) and other services
Now, picture this:
It's one of those Xmas gatherings, sitting in front of John and Me you have a gift from god: Sheila [right it's xmas] We thought she was the sister of Monica Bellucci.
John is on a warpath, flashing even his wisdom teeth and striking various poses from men's health. I need to maneuver hard to disable him.
Suddenly I take out my Iphone...
"Wow! you got an iphone... cool, can I see... can you take my picture... " [now she mimics Sharon Stone, making the picture taking process difficult]
"Sure, here it is, I guess it makes my iphone even cooler now..."
"Wow, it's nice, can you bluetooth it to me?"
"No"
"Can you mms?"
"No"
"Infrared?"
"No"
"Well i guess i can't beam you my phone number either..."
"No"
"I see John here has a Samsung i600, i guess that would work..."
TO THE DEV TEAM: GUYS THIS IS SERIOUS, CAN WE GET THAT BLESSED BLUETOOTH TO WORK???
[note: the names of the tragic story have been opportunely changed]

i don't think this is a priority for the dev team, i hope apple will do something about this in a future firmware update . . .

Love the story, man.
Been in exactly (I mean EXACTLY - even with 'John' et al - spooky) the same situation. Flip out the flash iPhone. Wooo... Try to accept an incoming picture being sent over bluetooth... ahhh...
Very embarrassing.
While applications that look up the lyrics of the songs you're listening to, allow you to browse your phone's filesystem over WiFi using AFP, and change the themes on the phone are all very cool - this device has some basic gaps in functionality that need to be filled pronto.
The two that spring to mind have to be MMS and the inability to send or receive anything over Bluetooth. Damn you Apple. Sort this out!

totally agree
i love the iphone for its inovative features.
but at the same time i hate it because of its lack of basic functions that any disposable phone woud have.
apple or DEV need to do somethink about this PRONTO!!

I've been digging in the iPhone's bluetooth (BTserver, BT frameworks and related files).
To simplify, it looks like we'll have to wait for Apple to add the services in the BT stack (PDA-sync and serial).
The iPhone can pair with BT enabled computers, but nothing can be done for now.

So, we just wait until Apples decides to make something about it? How long does it take them to make an update? 2 months? and in the last ones they have not fixed mms nor notifications of lost calls, or bluetooth or volume increase, camera zoom, taking video etc.
Damn it Apple what have you been doing????
iPhone 1.1.3 Telcel, Mexico
OTB 1.1.1 --> Jailbreakme.com --> Unlocked 1.1.1
--> Unlocked 1.1.2 --> Unlocked 1.1.3
video recording, camera zoom, MMS
It seemed like a good idea at the time...

yeah i paird mine with my laptop, nothing else tho, as said somewhere else, using this to share inet would b useful
its pretty useless for
a. my laptop to have it
b. my iphone to have it
i would never use bluetooth for music cause the quality is too low
and i feel silly with one of those earpieces
