DivX App
Anyone know of a DivX app for the iPhone? This would be the ultimtate app for me as I watch loads of DivX programs/movies that I download from bit torrent. It's a pain in the bum having to encode them into mp4 format.

TCPMP makes the best divx player, but no support for the iphone. the code is avalible online, so some programmer just needs to convert it

if you convert your movies to mp4 you will have better quality movies at the same size as divx (when done with the correct settings) AND they will be decoded with the HARDWARE mp4 decoder chip in the iPhone. Which means better battery usage. So divx would be pointless.

I'm stumped as to how few hits this thread has got. I thought DivX would be one of the most requested future apps for the iPhone but maybe I'm wrong??
Should we start a bounty for a developer to port such a program to the iPhone? I'll personally offer $20. Not a huge amount I know but I know I'm not the only one willing to offer $$ for such a program. Someone please step up to the plate.
As RMYC comments, they're already the source available so we just need it ported. No small task I know but it's certainly possible.
Please, pretty please!

DivX movies are the pretty much the standard for Torrents, which is where I get all my movies/programs. In my experience as well, DivX files have a far smaller footprint/better compression and offer an equally good viewing experience. The main CPU would be more than capable of handling the decoding. Also those no DRM crap in DivX files.

Good to hear that I wasn't wrong. Come on your clever DEVS get porting and aside from the recognition and big thanx you'll receive on this forum you also stand to make a few quid!

Just wanted to make sure everyone knows about iSquint (http://www.isquint.org). I also like to download files from torrents. I then just drag the file onto iSquint, and it converts it to mp4 completely painlessly. It's a Mac-only program, but I'd be surprised if there wasn't something similar for Windows. Since it's so easy to do, I don't really see the need for a DivX player for the iPhone.
