Thanks! This works in 1.1.4 too! Here is a guide. Its basically yours, I just tweaked it abit.


1. You must have a 1.1.3 or 1.1.4J ailbroken iPhone with SSH and BSD Subsystems.

2. Navigate to /System/Library/Carrier Bundles/Unknown.Bundle

3. Copy the carrier.plist to your desktop and create a copy of it

4. Convert the plist file here so you can edit it.

5. Search for: <key>AllowPrefixMatching</key> <false/> (there should be more
then one... Just take the first one.)

6. Replace <false/> with <true/>

7. Right under AllowPrefixMatching, there should be a <key>CarrierName</key>. This carrier, for me, is Vodafone. It might be different for you. You can actually edit any carrier name, be it AT&T, O2 or T-Mobile. Just make sure you set AllowPrefixMatching to True.

8. Replace Vodafone (or whichever carrier you picked) with your carrier. Note that this is case-sensitive.

9. Replace the Default and FSO.png of the carrier you change. So, if you changed Vodafone, you got to replace the Default and FSO Vodafone png.

10. For the logo that appears in the springboard, it is the FSO.png. For the logo that appears in applications, its the default.png. Once you replace the images, restart your iPhone.



This is my jailbroken and unlocked 1.1.4.



Note that if you go to another country and have roaming enabled, it will still show your custom image so you might want to take note of this setback.

Hmm. Funny man. I did it and so did many people here in Singapore and they have reported success. Make sure you add the png with the carrier you changed with.

So, if it was AT&T originally, I would rename my PNG files to Default_CARRIER_ATT.png and FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png. Double check to be sure. Other then that, I am not sure why it isnt working for you guys.

Convert carrier.plist into xml format on the iphone
if you want to convert your plist yourself from binary to xml-format, download erica saduns utilities, unzip to your pc/mac and only upload plutil to your iphone's /bin folder. in the shell (BSD-Subsystem and OpenSSH required) enter (without #)
# cd /bin
# chmod +x plutil
# cd /System/Library/Carrier \Bundles
# cd <providername>.bundle
# plutil -c xml1 carrier.plist

find out your current MCC/MNC
check Carrier MMC and Operator MNC
upload sendmodem to /bin

+COPS: 0,2,"26201" <--- example output (26201 is carrier and provider of t-mobile germany)
# chmod +x /bin/sendmodem
# sendmodem 'AT+COPS?'

when you get there it's going to look like this


in my case t-mobile ...

just rename your logo to Default_CARRIER_ATT.png(this is the black one which appears in applications) & FSO_CARRIER_ATT.png(which appears in the springboard)...

then i replace this ones on highlight...respring your iphone and your'e done!!!!!

I have been through all the 14 pages of this thread and I tried almost everything mentioned through them but it's not working for me..

I have a 2G phone, winpwned, with 2.0.1(5B108) firmware. I have Customize 2.1 installed and also MIM. I have openSSH and I can access the iPhone from my laptop which has windows XP SP3

I am from India and my carrier is Vodafone. I need to change the scrolling text to it's logo..


Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
