Does anyone know if there is an iPhone app in development to turn the iPhone into a wireless access point... sharing the EDGE connection over the WiFi ?

Although this approach and other such approaches work, they are far from elegant.

I am thinking of an app for the iPhone, start it and it wires the iPhone to share the EDGE over the Wifi. i.e. the iPhone would create a wireless network, which the laptop would connect to.
