First of all: swinte, thanks a lot! You managed a great solution in an incredibly short time.
Of course, activating and deactivating EDGE without having to reboot would be even better - would it be possible to just restart the service that provides data communication? Could it be that first unloading, and then reloading CommCenter (with launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist) could do the trick? My iPhone is still in the Mail or I would check myself
Greetings,

Hmmm... that may work, I'll see what adding code to relaunch CommCenter does. If I can do that and get rid of a gnarly bug I may be able to get rid of the restart requirement. I'll see what I can get done before vacation.
Also, this is not currently available via AppTapp Installer. Currently it must be installed manually. I'd like to distribute this via the Installer, does anyone know who I would need to contact to make that happen?

I've got an idea for swapping the icon depending on whether EDGE is activated or de-activated. I'll give that a shot after work today and see if my idea works.
Anyone graphically competent want to throw together two icons for me to play with? Drop me an email or post any ideas here.

Thanks, the icons look great! I've got the springboard icon that Kaos2800 put together integrated and ready to go with v0.3. I'll work on getting the EDGE ON and EDGE OFF icons integrated as well. I should have an updated version ready for public consumption here in a few minutes.

Okay, I've uploaded the v0.3 version. Check it out here!
The EDGE icon on the springboard now shows as red when it is disabled and white when enabled. Thanks to Kaos2800 for the icons.
The application icon also now shows the current status of EDGE. I liked luggi83's idea for the icon color "green means okay, red means watch out!" This may be confusing for some folks since I'm using red in the springboard icon to indicate EDGE is disabled. Let me know what y'all think on this.
I've also commented my code; take a look at DeEDGE.app/DeEDGE.sh to see how this all works. It's pretty straightforward. If you figure out why a phone restart is necessary sometimes let me know. I'm reloading the baseband after making the change but that doesn't seem to work 100% of the time.
