It seems wiki2touch is now working on FW 2.0 thanks to zm8 and mark9white for contributing! As this still is recently developed it contains some bugs to be fixed and the program must be launched manually through terminal/ssh.

i cannot launch the app it seems. I downloaded the compiled app and did as followed:

1. downloaded daemon (compiled) directory and moved into the orignal Wiki2touch.app directory into daemon.
2. put wiki2touch.app into applications on iPhone using ssh
3. made /var/mobile/Media/Wikipedia/XX directory.
4. used ssh and put $ daemon/wikisrvd -l en as command
5. rebooted my iPhone and i could see an icon on springboard. Tried to launch but screen disappears right after i have launched it.

Permissions are set to 0755 for Wiki2touch.app and 0777 for /var/mobile/Media/Wikipedia/XX directory

What seems to be the problem?

Has anyone else got it to work??

Wiki2Touch is working 100% now But you do need to put some command lines, so its upto geek level to get it done. I had alot of problems underway, but i finally managed to fix it.

Edit: Both article.bin and image.bin are working as they should! Enjoy!

Hey guys.. can a db be created excluding all the images? The db is over 3GB now.

Yes, wikipedia database is not included with the images. You have to download images afterwards seperatly, but that would take 8-9 Gb more.
Only database articles takes about 3.1 Gb, the english version.

Damn! oh well.. I'll still try it out (without images). I've been using Patrick Collison's Wikipedia app but the db is really old (2GB - last year's db) and there is no easy way to create a new db.

Just installed this on my 1.1.4. HOLY SH*T this app is awesome! Everything works just perfect. I wish I could use it on my PC as well.

Some questions. Anybody had any battery issues with the wikisrvd process running in the background? And I can't get this menu (http://haukap.net/__oneclick_uploads/2008/04/menu.png) to show up. Any clues?

Just follow the forum, there is a command you can add so you can turn off wikisrvd with Bossprefs and it works just fine! i have added images.bin and its also working 100%. Images for english version got upto 5.8 Gb it makes reading stuff more interresting!

I have Wikipedia in Spanish up and running in my 2.0 iPhone.

However, I've tried both DiskAid and t-pot to upload the files in English (about 10 times bigger) and I cannot get them to work.

I don' feel like uploading 4+ GB of data through Wifi, does anybody know of another possible solution?

There is a tool in download section, Wiki2TouchTool", you can use this to download the big wikipedia article.bin and image.bin files into your iPhone, for 3.1 Gb it takes about 8-10 min

I uploaded the 3.1GB English DB using iphonebrowser.
