[2.0] geotagging working correctly with iphone 2g?
Hi,
I just successfully upgraded my 2G iphone to OS2.0.
After taking some pictures I looked at the EXIF-information and saw that the geotagging is not working correctly...
According to google earth I am somewhere between europe and great britain. Actually I am sitting in Germany.
Anyone else having these strange geotagging information?
thanks

What does Google Locate show up when you hit it? Geitagging relies opn the information about your current location. So on a 3G it's done by GPS. On a 2G it has to rely on Wi-Fi (if available) or on celltower triangulation. I do get pretty good data when in a big city with my 2G iPhone, getting worse up to not usable when around.

Which program did you use? Google maps locates me pretty well (ok it shows a large radius, but my location is in the center of that radius.)

iPhone 2G 8GB 3.1.2 Vodafone.de

Google Locate is pretty accurate with my iPhone.
This is the information in EXIF (accoring to IrfanView):
GPS information: -
GPSLatitudeRef - N
GPSLatitude - 51 29.47 0
GPSLongitudeRef - W
GPSLongitude - 6 59.98 0
It is pretty accurate except one value: GPSLongitudeRef
This should be an 'E'.

I am in Greece for a while on my job. Close to Pelopones but on the mainland in a small town near patras. My 2G iPhone has no GPS of cause, Skyhooks database did not collect the data here so lon and lat for photos are measured by cellular triangulation of my carrier Cosmote here. The photo's location show a 4 mile difference to the location I am, thats pretty good to me.
