I have an 8 GB iPhone unlocked/jailbroken with ZiPhone, running 1.1.4.

Yesterday, I installed the trial version of Caterpillar (http://ripdev.com/caterpillar ). I guess I should've realized it hasn't worked for some other people, so mine wouldn't either...

Now the home screen works fine, but if I open any app, like Safari, iPod, Settings, Phone, or anything else, the touch screen doesn't work at all. I can only get back to home, using the home button.

The problem is, I can't get to the uninstall tab in Installer.app, so I can't even get rid of Caterpillar!

How can I get rid of it without wiping my phone?

I email RiP Dev, but they haven't responded yet.

ssh to your phone and kill caterpillar process(not sure about its name as I've never tried it), then you'd probably be able to uninstall or in the worst case erase the application files manually.

Note the Process ID of Caterpillar, quit "top" (control + c keys)

type this: (You have to replace 1 by the Caterpillar process ID)

kill 1

The exact same thing happened to me, can I ask if when u shut down the iPhone does it just power right off or do u see the turning mac flower that shows its working before it closes and also when u restart does anything funny happen with the apple logo like it flashing on and off a few times before it restarts?

See here: http://www.ripdev.com/caterpillar/version-history . I believe that you first have to uninstall the app completely by unchecking all the components and hitting Apply in the Caterpillar.app. Just a guess.

yeah they said it doesn't work with dock or screenshot ....mine get stuck at the slide to unlock screen when i reboot my phone but after leaving it there for a while it works again.....

Use any file access (SSH\SFTP) to kill file:
/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/com.ripdev.kali.plist
Then reboot

Thanks for your interest. There is an issue with the Screenshot and Dock applications that manage to grab SpringBoard's events port before SpringBoard does, thus resulting all the application events (such as clicks, etc) to go to the Dock/Screenshot apps and not the SpringBoard itself.

Sorry for a technical offtopic.

Anyway, we're trying to solve the problem by providing the info to the authors of Dock and Screenshot on how to make their applications behave right... Meanwhile, Darkmen's suggestion may help.

I didn't have screenshot or dock installed when it was happening to me, the only thing I had that could be similar is the new capture app. I could open applications but once open the touchscreen was unresponsive and I could use the home button to return to springboard, and also when I powered down the iPhone it would just turn straight off with no mac working turning flower icon and when powering up again the apple logo would flash four or five times before booting. Then when trying to restore with iTunes I would get errors like 1603 1604 and had to do the restore on another computer to make it work

Well I assume the new capture app works in the same way (as the bit that waits for the SpringBoard launch is available in source code for Dock.app and is reused across these project). Apologies for the troubles you're having.
