8. OpenSSH is not working anymore and cannot be uninstalled

Reinstallation of OpenSSH can help. Notice there will not be any SSH icon on the iPhone main screen under 1.1.3. To change the password, download this application and upload it to iPhone’s Application folder. Run it and then you can change the password.

you can manually copy paste ssh.app from var/root/Applications folder in to /Aplications folder

you can do that with mobile finder.

afterthat reboot yourr iphone and ssh.app icon will sow up on springboard.

it works 100%

In case you don't have the SSH.app anymore because (like me) you had some issues with soft-upgrading to 1.1.3 the first time around and thus had to restore the phone then you can simply extract it from Conceited Soft's jailbreak.jar file.
So now I have that nice icon back and can change the SSH pw and toggle the daemon from the springboard again.

it does work, but it just shows the icon; when u tap on it, i get booted the springboard

@spyboy i get the same, i have extracted ssh.app from jailbreak.jar file but it just boots me back to springboard.

Anybody got any ideas?

I managed to make SSH work again by reinstalling BSD Subsystem and then installing OpenSSH.

Hmm..just some wild guess - did you guys remember to set the execution (x) flag for the app? It kinda sounds like you just copied it and thus it cannot be executed.

I just checked my SSH.app configuration using winscp and indeed the X flag is checked and the octal is 0755 but the app still does not execute and drops back to springboard.

Secondly, what is the password to use terminal app on iphone as root/alpine doesnt work.

I managed to make SSH work again by reinstalling BSD Subsystem and then installing OpenSSH.

I uninstalled OpenSSH, reinstalled BSD Subsystem, then installed OpenSSH again, and it's working with username root and password alpine - I didn't change it before, so I'm not sure it would have kept the old password. I'm assuming not, since leaving that in would have resulted in problems with 1.1.3 springboard.

Also, for Linux users such as myself, if you are using the ipod-convenience script, you have to make a symlink "/private/var/root/Media" that points to "/private/var/mobile/Media". Since they moved everything to user mobile in preparation for third party apps...
