I've ordered a FuriouSIM, an upload cable and a cutter today online on furiouSIM.com and paid app. 30 EUR (50 USD) via PayPal. I'll test FuriouSIM with an original US AT&T iPhone 3G and a German E-Plus provider SIM card...
I'll let you know any progress on the ordering process since the reseller seems to be a little bit slow in shipping and of course whether I'll get it to work or not.

Preliminary Tests

Good Points 1st:
+ They sent a free SIM reader/writer along with the FuriouSIM
+ Package includes pre-cut sticky tape for sim card and FuriouSIM
+ FuriouSIM looks more sturdy than GeveySIM (test results of that in this thread)

Constants:
Solution: FuriouSIM
State: No modification done on the FuriouSIM, tested as shipped by supplier
Test Unit: iPhone 3G Black 16GB AT&T Locked (Pwned 5A347)
Carrier: SMART (my simcard is a 3G sim)

3G Switch ON
Call Out: Working
Call In: Not working
SMS Out: Working
SMS In: Not working
3G/EDGE/GPRS: Not working (no data icon beside carrier name)
GPS: Working

3G Switch OFF
Call Out: Working
Call In: Working
SMS Out: Working
SMS In: Working (but there are times that SMS are not coming in. They arrive later in bulk)
3G/EDGE/GPRS: Not working (no data icon beside carrier name)
GPS: Working

Notes:
1) My sim tray is now stuck. I can't remove it and I already broke a part of the SIM tray in attempting to remove it. My fault that I didn't sand paper down the FuriouSIM since I was excited to test it. Manufacturer should make the chip thinner by design, since you can't expect all buyers to have the presence of mind to sand it down first.
2) Since my sim and the FuriouSIM are stuck inside, I can't reprogram the Furious to set the Boost mode and the other adjustments you recommended.
3) Already tried the "Data Roaming" switch and the results are the same.
4) Already tried "Airplane Mode On then Off" and results are the same.
5) Other testers: Do remember to sand it down before inserting it.

Will bring my iPhone 3G to my hardware tech guy tomorrow. To open it up and hopefully successfully remove the SIM/Furious/SimTray. Then i will sand down the Furious, reprogram it with the Boost mode adjustments, then like a crazy scientist, test it again. Hopefully, results will be positively different.

So verdict for now:
As shipped: No carrier data network. SMS Inbound abit flaky.
Boost Mode On: Can't say anything on that yet.

I was clear since the beggining as you can see on the site BOOST MODE must be activated

also some important informations:

1. Jailbreak your phone
2. Make sure your Carrier simcard is valid and catch network(better double check in any other phone)
3. Set your FuriouSim as boost mode / 00101 / Patch count 1
4. Able DATA ROAMING in you Iphone
5. Put your Carrier sim and FuriouSim into your Iphone 3G
6. Go to Plane mode then Normal mode on your Iphone 3G
7. In case you still have NO SERVICE kindly go to courier mode, wait for around 20s, an error message will be displayed and you will have network
6. Enjoy... CALL 2G, CALL3G, DATA3G
