yes you can, but only app updates
yes you can use it to get, like, itunes updates and stuff like that! if you want the latest mac update(like update 10.4.11 or security updates) you need to follow the directions on this web site. i updated jas os x 10.4.8 to 10.4.11 successfully with this!
