Default Aspire One experiment

I recently purchased the 8GB SSD Linux version of the AA1, and would like to do a multiple-boot environment on it, but using bootable USB flash drives and external hard drives. My wife complains when I change the default OS and Desktop on a computer.. even if it is something as odd as E17 + compiz, hence the need to leave the default OS alone.

My first concern is patching an existing DVD of Tiger so I don't have to deal with the Kalyway DVD torrents with only one or two seeders.

My second concern is with EFI. As I would be using an external Hard Drive for this, if I understand the concepts correctly, I would need to boot into EFI from on the external hard drive, pointing to the external hard drive.

I don't currently know how to accomplish either of these things, and as I have been unable to find anyone else who has done what I want to do, and documented it, my searches for info have been fruitless.

Well there lots of info about this, success with iatkos v4i, even youtube videos, triple boots, the only problem its the wireless I guess, but $20/30 for a broadcom bcm4311 or another one, so try and report your results or issues

and Good Luck

I must be wording my searches wrong then. What should I be searching for?

BTW, I don't find youtube videos incredibly informative, I guess I'm too old-fashioned for all these new fangled whiz-bang whatchamacallems.

I have seen refit and bootcamp in action, via work colleagues. If I manage to pull it off, I'll document the process in it's entirety, and post back here. I aint got a blog or flickr stream to put 'em up on.

I'll take a look later on today. There is one concern though, my work colleague (inspired me to try a hckintosh) says that Tiger will run better on my AA1 with it's 512MB of RAM, and that Leopard would be a bit of a dog unless I voided my warranty and installed extra RAM. I know Tiger will be a bit of a dog running over a USB HDD, so I dread to think how poorly Leopard will run if what my colleague says is true.
