I have a macbook pro and this is what I did....
I did not need macosx just windows vista...so no need for bootcamp!
I simply did this... Hold C when the mac starts with the Vista DVD in the drive
I got to part where it asks you to install on to which partition and bummer!!
It wouldnt let me it said sumthing like this is GF2 partion not supported...
So i thought damn ok... DELETE PARTION so I deleted all even the small 199MB one... MADE 1 PARTITION for the whole drive and then clicked format..For sum reason this still would not work!!
SO AT THIS POINT I HAD A DEAD MACBOOK PRO....NO Operating System nothing, I WAS PULLING MY HAIR OUT!!
Then I remember I had a windows xp live cd (run windows xp from cd) You can download this from torrentspy or limewire p2p. I popped in my live cd pressed C and it loaded windows xp from cd...GREAT STUFF!! on my windows live cd it has partioning tools inbuilt so I used this tool Acronis disk commander i think... and created 1 whole NTFS partion formatted and ready to go. I simply rebooted with the vista install disc and it worked without a glitch, Only thing is once it had completed the setup it did not work straight away It had to restart 2-3 times then vista worked.. Also because there is not a bootloader when you first power it on it takes a short while before it boots into vista...BUT IT WORKS PERFECT!! and I used the Input remapper from insanelymac
http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=58373 Works a treat and I used the drivers of the bootcamp cd but you can simply download the Marvell Yukon ethernet driver from the Net and plug ur ethernet in and do a windows update to get drivers if you do not have bootcamp cd. It works great with windows vista best laptop I have ever owned... mine is the MACBOOK PRO Silver
15" 2.2ghz Core2DUO 4mb cache 2gb RAM 120gb HDD Nvidia 8600M GT,
I think the drivers and compatability with windows vista are good but need sum revisions like isight bluetooth and the display brightness/ keyboard controls brightness but as I said this tool eliminates alot of the problems..Shame it isnt automated like MAC OSX however.
