Default NitoTV 0.8.2 breaks Applications? screen black

Hello,

I have a problem with nitoTV and using applications (EyeTV 3.02)

EyeTV was working well with ATV 2.4 and nitoTV 0.8.1. I updated to ATV 3.01 and nitoTV 0.8.2, EyeTV was not starting (no error-massage, just not starting. Pressing "Menu" on the remote brings back to ATV)

After factory reset and downgrading to ATV 2.4 (with atvPawn) everything works well, evan EyeTV. But switching back from current app. (EyeTV) leaves a black screen. ATV is working normally, I can control it with the apple-remote, but I have a black screen until restart. (Same with screensharing from my mac: only black screen): AppleRadio

Any ideas? (perhaps a link to nitoTV 0.8.1 to test, if the update causes the black screen)

Thanks, Frank.

Hi Smoker,

What gives you the idea it's Nito causing the problems, it could also be ATV 3.0.1 or not?
FYI, I am running 3.0.1 and screensharing to my mac works fine, for the rest I sadly don't have am EYETV to test....

Default nitoTV 0.8.2 breaks EyeTV under ATV 2.4?

hi vriesfde,

with nitoTV 0.8.2 EyeTV is not working even under ATV 2.4, when quitting EyeTV the screen remains black.

I guess, I need a nitoTV 0.8.1. Does anybody know where to download?

Thanks, Frank.

i didnt change any of the app launching code between 0.8.1 - > 0.8.2 so it doesnt make much sense that it doesnt work, if anything 0.8.1 should be mostly broken in any appletv os that ISNT 3.0. check the console log to see if its reporting anything erratic.

Hi,

ATV 2.4:
The app-launching is working, I can use EyeTV perfectly. Only after quitting the Application and hitting "Menu" on the remote to get back to ATV-finder the screen remains black. The ATV is not freezed, I can use the remote and e.g. start EyeTV again, there is no entry in the consle-log. Only when going back to ATV-finder the screen gets black.

I think there is something wrong with the resolution-switching between ATV-finder and app-finder. There is also a difference between 0.8.2 and 0.8.1, the newer one has green circles around the mouse-pointer.

ATV 3.01:
EyeTV is not starting and not working. (nitoTV 0.8.2)

nitosoft, could You please send me a link to nitoTV 0.8.1? I want to test if it works withe the old one.

Thanks, Frank.

Thanks a lot,

but as You mentioned in Your first post, it must be something different. Even after a new installation and use of nitoTV 0.8.1 it gives an error, now "An error occurred" Press Play/Pause to restart...".

Installation: Changed recovery of ATV to 2.4, installed ssh with atv-usb-creator, copied OSX10.4.9upd., EyeTV and old recovery to Documents, installed nitoTV 0.8.1 manually. Second trial after ssh with atv-usb update 2.4 with atvpwn.

This time I got a kind of console-log:

2009-11-15 20:19:43.102 Finder[208] nitoHelper return: 0

Greetings, Frank.
yep thats a result of the false positive error for detecting an OS above 3.0 when its really below, hence why i said 0.8.1 couldnt have possibly worked properly on anything except 3.0

also, why did you change your recovery partition to 2.4 to downgrade? that was much more work than necessary and was really not a good idea if your appletv came stock with 1.0, (hope you made a backup if it did!) osupdate allows you to downgrade to different oses without changing your recovery partition.

Thanks for the quick reply,

I just changed the recovery partition to 2.4 because I thought its easier, as far as I know atv-usb creator can only handle ATV-OS 2 or higher. But changes are not on the original HD

I overlooked that nitoTV 0.8.1 was made for ATV 3.0. Which version will work with 2.4? 0.8.0? 0.7.9? (could you please...).

Anything else works, the recovery partition used for smartinstaller was from ATV 1.0

Greetings, Frank.
