Unhappy Adding large internal HD to ATV

Hello, I had a 40gb ATV and ran out of room. I wanted to enlarge the space so got a 320gb hd and did everything it says to swap out hds on http://www.appletvhacks.net/2007/03/...grade-process/

I go to the size and it says 32gb. I remove the drive again and look at it on my MacPro. The Media is only 32gb. It did not enlarge with the reset. I tried to use Disk Utility to enlarge the partition but it comes up with the error, "MediaKit reports partition (map) too small."
What is MediaKit? and how can I change it? OR how can I fix it so my Media partition is the full 318GB available?
PLEASE help!!

Did you try fdisk in the terminal. If this also doesn't work, then try to boot up a linux live dvd and use the provided partitioning tools - maybe they can change the partition size.

But afaik, the reset should also increase the Media partition. Maybe you should try to delete the media partition and then run recovery mode again.

fdisk will kill the gpt format, use parted instead as it knows about gpt disk format.

I upgraded mine a month ago to a 320gig drive. I can't recall exactly what I did but it involved dd and I used the guide at

Prepare a Hard Drive - AwkwardTV

Here is another guide that is similar to the way I did it. Seems similar.

DIY Spirit Easier Way To Upgrade Your Apple TV Hard Drive

Perhaps the easiest method I have seen (but didn't know about at the time) is ATVCloner which is at DynaFlash Tech.
