Question DisplayLink Driver for USB Displays @ AppleTV

hey guys,

i want to attach a 2nd (smaller) screen to my AppleTV, so i dont always have to turn on my big lcd screen to play i.e. music.

My idea is to install the Mac OS DiplayLink drivers (available for 10.4) on the AppleTV to use the USB monitor (Samsung U70) as a 2nd screen.
The U70 is connected via a powerd usb hub to get enough power.

What do you think? Possible?

Or have you other suggestions to add a second monitor (max 12") for my needs?

Drivers are for 10.4.11 or higher, AppleTV is running a build based on Mac OS 10.4.9 so there is a chance that this might not work. You could always try and report back success or failure.

If i dont have success with the AppleTV OS ill maybe try to install Leopard/Tiger on the AppleTV.

//Got my Samsung U70 10 min ago. Works perfect with OSX 10.6. Will test AppleTV soon.

Pacifist says the .pkg file installs the following files:

/System/Library/Extensions/DisplayLinkDriver.kext

/System/Library/Extensions/DisplayLinkGA.plugin

i extreacted the files on this path to the apple tv
i
Quote:
sudo chmod -R 755
and
Quote:
sudo chown -R root:wheel
both files.

When the Monitor is pluged in the LED of the monitor is flashing seems that theres no output.

Suggestions?

i copied the files DisplayLinkDriver.kext and DisplayLinkGA.plugin to /System/Library/Extensions/

kextload shows the error

bash-2.05b# kextload DisplayLinkDriver.kext/
kextload: cannot resolve dependencies for kernel extension DisplayLinkDriver.kext/

bash-2.05b# kextload -tv DisplayLinkDriver.kext/
kextload: resolving dependencies for kernel extensions with validation and authentication failures
kernel extension DisplayLinkDriver.kext/ has problems:
Missing dependencies:
{
"com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily" =
"No valid version of this dependency can be found"
}

bash-2.05b#

Any ideas?
