I've downloaded about 3 or 4 torrent files now that, when I play them, the audio is screwed up. Basically, when any of them play, the sound comes out sounding like a movie projector, with the reels that pull the film past the bulb. All audio for the entire show sounds like that, there's no bleed through of good audio (voices, music, etc.) just that high-speed ratcheting sound. I think it's a codec issue because they sound fine on my Mac Mini running Leopard, so it's not a problem with the file. I reinstalled Perian 1.1.3 but no joy. The only differences I can think of is that the ATV is plugged in via HDMI, and the mini via DVI -> HDMI and headphone jack to RCA.
ffmpeg reports the audio format as "0x2000" which according to some threads I found via Google, is AC3. I'm trying to play w/ATVFiles 1.2.0, with AC3 pass-through on and off, and get the same results. Any ideas? Thanks, Doc |

If it's a helicopter like sound, with pulses about 30 times a second, then your problem is quite easy to solve.
Code:
defaults read com.cod3r.a52codec attemptPassthrough Code:
defaults delete com.cod3r.a52codec attemptPassthrough |

Hi,
I came across the same thing when I updated xbmc snv, but simply stopping & re-starting the file fixed it. I think it's fine in the current snv (I have not come across it since updating early this week). |
