Does OSX take advantage of gpu?

Just wondering if I run osx on my apple tv if it will use the full power of the gpu on the atv. If so i would like to run XBMC in osx.

nope it doesn't, putting full os x on it will not increase performance in any way, if anything the performance will decrease. the appletv is already running a stripped down customized version of mac os x 10.4.7.
