Dear friends,

obviously something went terribly wrong I tried copying some library files and I am not really sure where the mistake was, however I am now a proud owner of ATV Brick :/

Current condition is, that when I turn ATV on, the Apple logo shows up, and then dissapears, and shows up again.... My guess is that Finder fails to load.

My question now is wheter there is a way to restore atv? Since I cant use ssh to connect to it any more, can I somehow boot linux via usb stick and restore atv using the restore partition? I also have a dmg image of the recovery partition from my atv on my laptop.

holding menu + "-" button on your remote for 6 seconds should take you to Factory Restore menu.

Factory restore will delete everything you have on your ATV.

if that fails let me know, there is a way to do it via USB and your recovery dmg , but unless you messed with partitions you should be fine with menu + "-" and a factory restore.

I have tried that before and it didnt work. However, I have discovered why. My TV does not recognize ATV's default video mode. And when i pressed menu and - my screen was blank. Now I also changed video mode by pressing menu and + and it worked this time!
