So I have successfully installed Jon's image to the internal HD (on the Media partition) and have been using the system for the past few days.
Dang, it really requires a lot of patience. I've disabled Spotlight (by adding Media and OSBoot to Privacy...is that correct?) and turned off the animations. It's still really slow at times. If I download a torrent, it takes about 2 minutes for Transmission to open and then start d/l'ing the file. Yeah, I know -- 256 Megs of RAM. What can I expect? If only System Profiler's finding of TWO memory slots (one free) were actually true. Even 256 Megs more of RAM would definitely speed this baby up. At this point, I'm quite happy that I got everything working (thanks to Ash especially), but I think I'm going to reformat it and either return it or use it for what it was actually intended for (with XBMC and Boxee too, of course!). Thanks again!

You can use a tool called onyx to completely disable Spotlight. Because it doesn't index your drive doesn't mean that Spotlight isn't running. So maybe you can get a little bit more out of it.
Another useful hint is to disable Journaling (with Onyx) - Journaling file system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. |

DOH! Houston we have a problem...
If I open a divx with quiktime, crash! If I open a divx with VLC, works.. Is this a problem of the video driver? during the installation of the ideneb 1.3 there's a fix for te go7x series.. i must select this item? Last edited by Scipione; 11-15-2009 at 02:16 PM. |

If there's a patch for the Geforce Go 7300, then you should install it.
The error could be the result of many problems - video, sound drivers, kernel ... hard to tell. Try to install the geforce driver, if it doesn't help, then try to use a different version of perian or divx. You could also try to disable graphics acceleration (use google to find guides, eg on the insanelymac.com forum). |

Avi's, mov's, mkv's didn't worked on quicktime; crash when opening the files... I then installed VLC and the files worked well. The problem is the "AppleHDA.kext" that you've patched. No solution for that! Restore a previous applehda.kext and add voodoohda.kext or just use VLC instead of Quicktime. Regards, Xanix |
