Great to hear! i tried to tinker but was going blind........it looks like some dylibs are missing? Anyway, doing things manually again is good practice

Nito,
Does smart installer install the latest compiled binary of mplayer or earlier versions?

type this in and you will see what version you have installed

/System/Library/CoreServices/Finder.app/Contents/PlugIns/nitoTV.frappliance/Contents/Resources/mplayer

EDIT: to clarify, the mplayer binary is included in the nitoTV install package

no problem, was going to update this thread too when i released but it just slipped my mind. the turnaround took longer than i anticipated but on the plus side there shouldn't be too many bugs and it should deliver comparable performance to how it worked on 2.x

Default Frustration

So I am trying to get nitoTV setup properly and am having problems that I didnt have on my first atv setup.

Background:
Trying to prepare a second atv. Have one working beautifully with 2.4 nitoTV8.0 streaming off a TimeCapsule. Trying to build a second one and cannot get any networked drives to work.

Fresh restore of the ATV to default 2.4 software. Patch using a atv-usb creator patchstick.

Use fugu to copy MacOSXUpdCombo10.4.9Intel recover.dmg and the latest nitoTV.

On the atv go to nitoTV and run Smart Installer. No errors that I can see. Go back to Network. I can see my bonjour mounts and when I attempt to connect: "AFP is not enables properly or is missing essential components, Smart Installer with a 1.0 recover.dmg in ~/Document will fix this issue"

On my other atv I had problems with afp so I used a SMB type. However this doesnt seem to be working either.

Any hints? I dont understand if I can get it working on one and cant with the same setup on number two. Is this something stupidly small that I am over looking?

nito can you explain me something please before i update from 2.4 to 3.0?

1) does theatvusb patchstick creator stil work for ssh?

2) i read somewhere that the PW changed from "frontrow" is that true?

3) is smartinstaller for extern hdd suport working?

4) i read that perian is not working with 3.0 yet, can i play my xvid, divx... movies anyways?

5) what is not working in 0.8.1 or what shouldn't be installed from the nito tv software selection ( where you can select perian/smartinstaller/itunesLs/kextloader/couchsurfer....)

thx a lot
