use this command to make a file executable: sudo chmod -R 755 <file or folder>
this command sets the ownership to root and the group to wheel: sudo chown -R root:wheel <file or folder>.

This is quite important if you copy over some file manually. Kexts/drivers will not load, if there access rights are wrong. All other files need to have the correct rights to run properly.

Look in your private message box for the kext.

Strange, than there is another problem. What kernel do you use?

i use the original semtex kernel, written in the guide.
i use appletv 2.3 boot.efi
and i did use your applefilesystem.kext

i did all the bless, chmod and chwon things and i do not know why it does not work at my apple tv...

perhaps i should do a factory restore to appletv firmware 1 and try it with the old version.

Maybe the usb chip of your external harddrive doesnot work well with the appletv? I really don't know how to help you. If I'd know a solution, I would have posted it already. Sorry.

Hi all!
I need some help. I would like to boot osx from external disk, but I stucked.
I already have a full osx on my appleTV, but I would like to do a recovery system to a usb hdd. When I first tried it, didn't work, because of the GPT partitions.
So there is the system on the usb hdd (which is actually running on the appleTV correctly), and I reconfigured the GPT partition to 5265636F-7665-11AA-AA11-00306543ECAC. But it still not boot. Can somebody help me in this?
Thanks.

I am about to begin work on a similar project for a client of mine. From what I can tell there will be significant overlap in terms of features.
