Hi
I applied last week and now have just received some email to confirm acceptance into the program Soon I will have access to the Beta firmware, I have a question if anyone can help. Do I need a legal activated iPhone to install the firmware onto the device. I have a imported US iphone in the UK and defo wont be able to activate through itunes, do this dev cert take care of that, or does you still need official itunes activation? THanks in advance |

You'll need official activation. The developers certificate is for building apps to the device.
I think someone here is the same (accepted, but can't use the beta because they have unlocked). Last edited by Niiro13; 05-08-2008 at 05:14 PM. |

Is there a way to install it if you only have Windows XP? |

You need a MAC to use the SDK.
VM environments are one way, but I'd try to go as native as possible. Try building yourself a OSX86 PC and dual boot MAC OS X and XP or Vista. It may or may not work entirely depending if you find all the necessary drivers for your PC. Look into the forums for iATKOS or other similar prepackaged OSX installers for PC. |

Thank you all for the advice.
I tried VM Player but it only runs on 64-bit virtual machine.s I'm using a Windows XP with 32-bit vitual machines. I get the following error: "This host's CPU does not support longmode. You have configured this virtual machines to use a 64-bit guest operating system. However, this host's CPU is not capable of running 640-bit virtual machines or this virtual machines has 64-bit support disabled. For more information, see http://www.vmware.com/info?id=152." Does anybody know how to fix this? If this doesn't work, can I still load the official iPhone Devoper Program .ispw beta 5 on my iPhone without using Leopard and activate it thru AT&T? Note: I was able to extract the beta 5 .dmp file but I did not see any.ispw. Thanks! |

You won't be able to jailbreak the phone through VMWare. There is no USB support.
