Greetings All. I'm a noob,hanging out, trying to do as much research as I can to flip my hp laptop over to OSX.
The reason why is because as an avid PPC user, as I use my setup for filmmaking and animation, it saddens me that all of the native apple software I rely on will no longer be supported for PPC. I don't necessarily like Intel, since I have been through 7 Intel PCs in the last eight years that have died with long useage. Motherboards just conk out. But I'm willing to toss 1500 up every five years for a PC. Especially with insurance from Best Buy. None the less, I am not dropping to Apple 6gs every three years because Steve Jobs is price gouging the market on a machine that may not live to its full life expectancy. In fairness, I gave the MacPro intel tower a shot, and in six months I had taken it back to Apple three times with motherboard and processor failures. That was it for me for the money that I spent on that crap. Thank God I got it back on ebay!
The tech specs that I need on my Mac I have on my HP, especially since the motherboard conked out on here only having it for 4 months. Don't worry, best buy rebuilt and replaced the entire processors,motherboard, and fans, as well as all of the memory boards.
So...I'm now willing to turn my Intel 2 Duo Core processor into a leopard machine. Been reading fora couple of days, still looking at which build has greater success with this dv5 1015nr that I have.
