Ok dont shoot me or burn me or ban me.
But Ive reached that point where Im ready to just get a real phone. The iphone is cool and I will keep it to play with. But I really need to get on with my life and need a real phone. Factors that are important to me. a. A large Display to watch my videos on. b. Wifi and Bluetooth that work. c. It should be able to shoot video (Real video the kind most basic Nokia Phones manage). While I go dig thru the old posts hoping to find something interesting pls feel free to post. The first choice Ive come up with so far is the Nokia N800. Yeah Im a big Nokia fan. |

1. The iPhone has a huge display, bigger than most phones
2. Wifi works great. If you got a defective one, that's what warranty is for. Bluetooth lacks AD2P and file transfer, but that's in the works (bluesn0w) 3. Jailbreak and install Cycorder. Best video I've seen from a phone 4. The iPhone isn't for everyone. If it's not for you, sell it to someone who will love it and enjoy it and buy yourself a Nokia |

So after thinking it just may be better to get an official iphone.
Which would come with things like warranty. Went looking for the official dealers in India. The price is 720$ for he 16GB They will not even give you a sim with the card. The phone they supply comes with the old firmware. And it is against the TOS to even update the firmware. If you update the firmware the phone is no longer under warranty. So I checked out the Nokia 5800 Xpress. Price was 400$. Thing I noticed The bad bits. a. The screen is 640 long but on the width its a wee bit less. b. No accelrometer. The good bits. a. It comes with a 3.2 Meg Camera which actually shoots prety decent video with crystal clear audio. It even has a flash. b. It comes with maps loaded for the complete country free. With its GPS. c. It comes with a pretty nifty earphone with remote. And even includes a cable to hook up to your TV. Something like the one I paid 99$ for for the apple. d. Wi/fi and bluetooth actually work. e. The input interface has a stylus/touch keyboard. And it even has a neat hand writing recognition interface that was amazinglly acurate. f. A neat feature. The pop up keyboard and writing area can be re-sized and moved arround on the screen. Still not decided which one to get. Need to chk the grey market for prices. And see how much it would cost to get down from the USA |

hquest my English is not that bad dude.
I said that Id be checking out the Grey market price. Which BTW was costlier than the Apple store price. Go figure. The logic given was well we hack it for you. Last night went to forum to the Apple store. Since I heard they where selling the 2G. And they would be more sympathetic to my upgrading the firmware on a new phone. They are selling the Airtell and the Vodophone handsets and only 3G. They say if there is an issue with the phone they will send it to Bombay and it will take at least 15 days to fix. (Ps: It normally take way longer is what the shop guy told me). And they are supposed to give me a standby hand set. If they have one in stock. I asked how many customers have come in with problems. His response well a few. I asked how many got a stand by handset. Well we havent given one out yet. lol. While there I had a look at a few other phones. There is no use buying the Nokia express. It has to really be a better phone than the iphone in every dept. And the express is not. But was impressed by the Sony Ericsson X1 and the HTC Touch HD. Both of which have larger screens than the iphone 2.5 more pixels if the review on mobile-phones-uk.org.uk is to be belived. |

Nono pal, I was not joking about your english or the way you wrote. I just became way curious about your statement of moving from a hacked iPhone to official, carrier supported phone, from the grey market. I got lost on this statement, as it makes no sense to me.
And I still can't believe your carriers Airtel/Vodaphone are that dumb to void warranty when a phone is automatically updated by Apple using iTunes and official update files from Apple. |
