I hate Apple and the iPhone!

My iPhone stopped charging a week back. I tried every trick in the book and even left it on charge for days but nothing. I am out a phone and all my contacts, pics ... etc! So unreliable!! No wonder no corporates are replacing their blackberrys.

I took it to Apple care and they said they can't have a look at it since it was bought in the US! I didn't buy it in the grey market here but in an Apple store in DC. I was explicitly told that the warranty is valid whether I activated it with AT&T or not. Thus, no support despite a legit purchase.

Today my carrier texted me letting me know that they were launching the iPhone 3G for $750-875 (8/16GB) with a 2 year contract! Jobs said $199 worldwide!!
Anyway, I asked Apple if they would offer support for the phone I bought here and they said that they had no word on it from Apple. And since the carrier is selling it, it would be responsible for support!

The icing on the cake - driven by my new found Apple mania, I bought a Macbook Air. That overheated and conked out! And its been lying at the Apple 'Care' for 2 weeks now and everytime I am told "You will get it within 2 business days!"

Yes, its true. I hate Apple. I hope Steve Jobs goes to hell.

That sucks bro, have to agree with you after that story. I think you should try and find an official copy of the Apple warranty and see what it says. Consumer rights law is quite strict, they can say what they like, but they have to follow the law, maybe get hold of a consumer rights group. Good luck!

Anyway, my only point of ranting and venting my anger was to point out - Most people just love their iPhone blindly (as I did). Only when something goes wrong you realize that even though it is a great product there are a LOT of shortcomings - locked to network, battery change only onsite (control freak Apple!!), 2MP camera w/o flash, etc. etc. etc.

After this when I read yesterday that someone in NZ camped for 3 days outside the Apple store to get the first 3G, it just makes me wonder how Apple works its mind control.

Perhaps the reason why Apple sucked, is because they tend to miss out on certain things. Look at the iPhone - sleek minimalist design, big hard drive and touch screen, but lacks on other features? And the battery's fixed? And not to mention the price tag... I could have bought a more capable Nokia instead for half the price... I could have either plugged a banana or an apple on Steve's mouth or kick him into the pit of death, 300-style...
