I did 3.1.2 OTB jailreak with blackra1n rc2. When I tried to restore with custom fw 3.1.2 it took long time at "preparing iphone for restore" screen and then it gave me error 1604. Then I have to use itune to restore it back to 3.1.2 Am I doing anything wrong here? Is there any solution to this? Thanks in advance for all the help and suggestions. |

what i meant is did you put phone in dfu mode or recovery mode. If you did then that is not needed. no need for dfu/recovery.

Complete detail:
I have the iphone 3gs otb with 4-5 digit serial 41, with legal att sim. I jailbreaked with blackra1n rc2 and got to main screen on iphone. Than I opened the itune and did shift+restore and select the file a friend sent. It took a long time at "Preparing iphone for restore and then it gave me 1604 error." Meantime iphone went into recovery or dfu mode and only way I can get out is to do a restore from itune. |

Hum...
are you sure that custom firmware is good ? That phone (week 41) probably has a new bootrom. I'm not sure if you can restore a custom fw to it. I think you should because once jailbroken, the phone is pwned. I don't have anything like that to test here. But I just tried the same thing on iphone 3G and it works (fw 3.1.2, jb with blackra1n rc2 then restore with custom fw 3.1.2) ps: I think something may be wrong with your custom ipsw. Take a look at your itunes updater log file. It is located in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Updater Logs
