First, what works and doesn't work:

Things working:
Bluetooth
Sleep, Restart, Shutdown
Keyboard with basic function keys
Trackpad with tap and two finger scroll
Sound (no mic, it seems)
Video with full native Resolution
Webcam in photobooth and skype (doesn't seem to work in iChat)
Time Machine

Not working yet:
WLAN (Think this is certainly possible, with everything currently supported by the atheros drivers in snow, but you can always swap for a fully supported card)
Ethernet (Doubt this will work, haven't really looked at it)

Now that that's out of the way, here are the steps. Please only try this if you know what you're doing. I take no responsibility for destroying your eeePC.

Requirments:
eeePC 1008HA (the 1005 model will probably work as well)
my snow extra pack (download)
NetbookInstaller (download)
Snow Leopard Installer
An 8gb Flash Drive, or other free partition beyond where you wish to install
A working Leopard Install (Doesn't need to be on the 1008HA if you wish to install to an external HDD)

Step 1:
On your working Leopard Install, use Disk Utility to format your 8gb flash drive as MBR with 1 Partition, name it SL Installer. Then restore your Snow Leopard DVD or DMG to the Flash Drive. If you wish to install on an MBR partition, you'll want to navigate to System/Installation/Packages and replace your OSInstall.mpkg with this one.

Step 2:
Execute the OSInstall.mpkg previously mentioned, and begin the install. Make sure to select your proper target drive, and in Customize to deselect Languages and Printers, or your install will fail.

Step 4:
Alright, you've got Snow installed on your 1008 now, but you're not ready to boot quite yet. Just a few more steps to complete. First, start up the NetbookInstaller app you should've downloaded, and run it on your new Snow Leopard install. It may take several minutes. It will tell you that you're running an unsupported device, just hit continue. Select your drive, and check only the following:
Install PC EFI v9
Install General Extensions

Then let it do its magic.

Step 5:
You're almost ready! At this point, your SL install should be fully bootable and ready to go, but I assume you'd like sound, sleep, and a working battery meter. So, copy my provided Extra folder to your new Snow partition, overwriting any files when prompted, and repair permissions on the files in terminal.

Now, if you've done everything correctly, you should be ready to reboot into snow and be greeted with the welcome video Enjoy!

Step 6 (Optional, if you want sleep to work fully):
Once you've booted into your new snow install, you'll want to install CHUD tools, and download this. Then, mount the ISO and the EEE-Utilities.dmg it contains. In EEE-Utilities browse to Fixes/Dimming Control Wake and Install SleepWatcher and then Sleepwatcher Startupitem. Once that's complete, run "Set Up Wake" only once, authenticate and some stuff will run through terminal. Once it's complete, sleep should be working fully. Your display will now come on when you wake your computer up Thanks to here for that info.

Thanks for the guide, I might be trying this on my 1005HA soon once the wifi driver issue has been sorted out (any news on this?), this is a real showstopper for me.
Can you tell me a bit about the usability of SL on your eeepc? In terms of speed (starting and using applications like firefox and/or perhaps the iLife apps) and the display resolution? I heard some apps (like iPhoto and Garage band and perhaps others) are developed for screens with higher resolution, are they usable at all?

Could you keeps us posted on your progress with ethernet and wifi please?

In regards to speed, everything is extremely snappy. If you're used to running Leopard, the speeds are comparable if not a little faster. Everything is easily comparable to speeds on my 13" MacBook. The iLife apps do have issues with screen resolution, however. iPhoto works fine, but some do not scale well. I believe garage band is one of the ones that doesn't fit the small resolution that well. I haven't really tried out the full suite, but I'll let you know.

I will certainly keep you updated on the wifi as well, this is considered vital to me, too. It's the only thing stopping me from using OS X as the primary OS on this machine

All is good with 10.6.1, no need to do anything special. Just install the update via software updates and you're good to go.

Followed the steps correctly... Tried many other ways but get to the same spot. When I try to boot off the snow leopard volume I get the following: Loading Darwin/x86. If boot off snow leopard volume with cpus=1 -v I get the following: Loading Darwinx86
Loading kernel mach_kernel
Loading HFS+ file: [mach_kernel] from 42302f0.
Loading HFS+ file: [mach_kernel] from 42302f0.

And this is where it hangs.. What part am I going wrong on. Have clearly followed the steps.. Thanks for your help!

I'm unsure what might be causing that, but I never had to use the cpus=1 setting. I'd recommend resetting your bios to the default settings, and then only turning off bootbooster (this is basically how mine are setup) and see if that makes any change for you.

What does the bios have to do with this if I have never touched it.

what version of netbook installer are you using? when I try to use 0.8.2, there is no PC_EFI option, just Chameleon 2.0 RC3. <- can I use this?

NetbookInstaller 0.81 has the PCI_EFI option, but I can't open the drive selection menu .
Also,
what do you mean? how do you repair permissions to the /Extras folder?
