Default Purplera1n. My experience

all you'll be able to do is boot your phone in recovery mode, and then it gets stuck there.

thats on windows vista 32 bit, program set to run in XP service pack 2, and as administrator.

Dont even bother at this time, there are few success stories but this program was put together poorly.

although, i do agree with geohot that the JB should be released now, and seeing as it has been revealed with this poor excuse of a JB program thats dubbed 'purplera1n'

dev team should just release theirs.

besides, Geohot said he'll find another hole next week

24 HOURS HAVE PASSED

i installed windows XP with SP2 thru bootcamp on my macbook, and what do ya know, worked like a CHARM

the really bad part about it is that unless you have XP the process is going to fail and or frusturate everyone to hell

but yeah, loving my jailbroken 3GS

Lots of success stories using XP.

Code something better, then you get to criticize.

It worked for me. I appreciate what geohot has done. You have to remember that geohot doesn't usually make tools for the public. So it's his first time really doing this for the community. I agree it's not the beat tool, but works. Hoefully the dev releases their jb layer today.

Default purplera1n

this worked a treat for me, very easy to do and all working fine. 3gs speeds on cydia are super fast. sbsettings work fine but no winterboard working yet. installous works so cracked apps all the way.

cmon devs release ya jailbreak app and we can all live happily ever after

arctic, its really easy.
- Plug phone in.
- Make sure you have iTunes 8.2 (what I had) installed
- Click on purplera1n.exe
- When phone reboots open "Freeze" on the phone to get Cydia
- If Cydia doesn't appear then reboot

Worked beautifully, ran on Windows XP 32bit.

right, i get that. get cydia installed, the icon, & the functionality of there app store. however, my real concern is getting all those "backed up" apps on the phone.
