I've been holding onto my 3.0 on my iPhone 2G for a while, and it seems now might be the right time to go to 3.1.2.
I have a few questions before I do that.

First let me explain my situation. I have T-Mobile and plan to keep it that way. I would like to have push support, and from what I've read, you need to activate the phone with an AT&T/Cingular SIM card in order to do that.
I have also read that you can't hacktivate the phone and have push support working.

I also have a Windows computer. I'm unsure whether or not the blackrain/blacksnow/redweather/etc will work on that, I am still a bit confused about all of these and their capabilities. Will it automatically hacktivate my phone?

I would also like to know what procedures I would need to go through to have push enabled. I know that I'll need to first restore it to 3.1.2 as a new iPhone, and I then will have to activate it. I have a Cingular card and an AT&T card, but neither work to my knowledge. Will I be able to activate it with either of these?
After the activation procedure, I'm guessing I will jailbreak it using whatever blackrain or other tool was mentioned before...?

To sum all of this up:
-I have T-Mobile and a 2G.
-I want to have push enabled, so I must activate legitimately.
-I have a friend's non-connecting AT&T and Cingular SIM cards.
-I have Windows.
-I would like to get my 3.0 to 3.1.2 with push, unlocked for T-Mobile, MMS, etc.

I'm unsure what I do next. Do I back up the current keychain files to my computer with SSH, and then use the Unlock from blackrain/whatever?
Any help would be appreciated.

Turns out the SIM cards work to activate it, however I do not know the billing person's last 4 digits of their SS number.
Just letting anyone know for future reference.
