Default Wifi not working

Hi,

i have a problem with my Iphone 2g 16gb. I bought it from ebay with an broken LCD and ordered a replacement LCD(complete unit). With the broken screen i was able to make a connection with my wlan router. Then the replacement was delivered and i changed the display, but touch didnt work and i had to order an another one. In the meantime i tried to update to 3.1.2 and it worked.
A week later the new LCD arrived and finally touch was working.

Then i realized that wifi didnt work. I can activate wifi and the circle shows up and looking for a network. It didnt find my network(the other iphone and laptop are working, no mac filter set in the wifi router).
Everything else is OK, sound, gsm, bluetooth ...

I tried to downgrade to 2.2 and 1.1.4 (modem firmware: 04.04.05_G) but my wifi network is still missing.

Has anybody an idea what i can do to solve this problem?

thanks

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings - and try again. Sometimes that helps.. If not, could be a hardware issue..

After upgraded to 3.1.2 my Wifi stop to work (grayed), downgrade to 2.2 and 1.1.4, downgrade the baseband to 04.04.05_G, still the Wifi was grayed, upgrade again to 3.1.2 and Wifi working again.

From your description looks like your Wi-Fi bailed on you right after LCD replacement, right? Then it can be hardware related.. whoever replaced the screen might have damaged it..

i have changed the LCD, so it would be me, who might have damaged it, the question is, which part.
When i have damaged it,why is only wifi does not find my access point? The Wifi part seems to be working, otherwise the wifi on/off switch would be greyed out, right? And bluetooth and wifi are connected through one cable with the antenna and gsm is connected with the other cable, right? So, it cant be the Antenna when bluetooth is working on the same.

Is there any software available that check the whole hardware and can locate a problem?

you could try setting up an "iPhone to PC" connection, see if this works, if your iphone wifi is ok but the issue has anything to do with the access point then you should be able to set up this kinda connection.

if this too does not work, don't suppose your iphone wifi is ok.....

good luck
