Default iphone does not show up in iTunes

After upgrading my iTunes to the last version I no longer see my iPhone in iTunes. The iPhone charges, but iTunes does not recognize it.

I use Windows XP SP3.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

What version is your iTunes? Update it to the latest 9.0.1...

You can remove apple mobile device support via add/remove programs. Then restart your machine.

Then reinstall iTunes, it will detect that most of iTunes is already installed and will just reinstall mobile device support.

If this does not fix it, try creating another account on your windows box and seeing if your iPhone is detected with that account.

Hello Olethros,

I've tried your suggestion but it did not work. I also tried connecting to a different PC, but that didn't work either.

The iPhone charges, but iTunes still doesn't recognize the device nor does it show up in Device Manager.

Yes, the phone functions normally. I did try a different USB cable.

I started having this problem after I had upgraded iTunes to version 9.

Remove and unplug the Iphone from the computer,Uninstall the Itunes,Go to the Control Panel and from Add/Remove programs uninstall the Apple mobile device,Restart your computer.
Now Rinstall Itunes, keep the "Open the Itunes Automatically" box checked on at the finish of the Itunes installation.
when the itunes oppens plug in the iphone, the Windows then will find the iphone and install the drivers.
if didnt work you can install the old Itunes 8.2 just the same way I described.
BTW.Itunes 9.1 never installed on my windows XP.

I followed your directions and installed 8.2, but iPhone still does not show up in iTunes.

I have OS 3.1 installed on my iphone currently.

I'm in a bit of pickle right now. I decided to wipe out all date on the phone by resetting it thinking that would have helped, but that did not help either.

Now the phone is asking me to connect to iTunes, but iTunes doesn't recognize the phone.
