Help with MMS, Skype, and MyWi on my 2G with 3.0.1 FW
I have a newly JB 2G iphone with 3.0.1 FW broken with Redsn0w with T-Mobile/Edge $24.99 service. My friend has a 3GS and was telling me to download MyWi and VOIP something app for iphone so you can talk on Skype via your own wi-fi without using your home wifi when you not home. I tried to get it of Cydia and it failed to install on my 2G, help. Also, how do I make my MMS work, do I need to download a Source for it?

The focus on MMS patches right now are for 3.1.2 if you look around there is a thread about how to get ActivateMMS2G installed even though the cydia repository hosting it has been very unstable recently.
I don't understand the rest of your question. What are you talking about with wifi? Do you mean tethering?

Thank you for reply. Yea I saw a thread where you need to post a source on cydia and then install the MMS and then configure something in General Settings. Yes the other thing I guess I was trying to explain was indeed tethering. My friend with 3GS ATT phone did a hack I mentioned below through Cydia and now he has Wifi on iphone that Skype sees and is able to talk on Skype without using home Wireless Router Wi-fi connection, is this available for 2G iPhone? Also, have you upgrade to 3.1.2 FW with Pownage tool via MAC yet? I see iClarify has a tutorial already for 2G and 3G, not for 3GS yet, has anyone do that yet, and how stable is 2G iphone with it, any issues? I was gonna try to upgrade to 3.1.2 maybe with my friends MAC, I know tutorial came out Oct 13th.. (Just added this): I think I found the answer, for tethering on my 2G and using MyWi for Skype I have to upgrade and JB and Unlock to 3.1.x, is that right? i found this blog tutorial: http://ipodtoucher55.blogspot.com/20...mware-31x.html

First, you can enable tethering without even jailbreak on 3.0.1
See benm.at for info on this Apple made it harder to enable tethering with 3.1 and 3.1.2 which is why a patch is now required. Secondly, are you talking about running skype on iPhone and chatting without wifi. Or are you talking about using skype from your computer which connects to the Internet via your iPhone via tethering? As well as enabling the apple inbuilt tethering (USB or Bluetooth) there are also two other tethering programs. MyWi and pdanet both are not free and have different features. Pdanet is quite standalone and as such less likeiy to cause instability. Mywi hacks the built in tethering and also extends it. The first case requires that you install a program from cydia that is called 3G unrestrictor The second case just requires you to have tethering working.
