iPhone 2G - 3.1.2 - MMS Patch

This is a patch for CommCenter from iPhone OS 3.1.2 running on the iPhone 2G Device.

This was originally a like-for-like patch updated from geniusan's original work for 3.0, this has now been streamlined into a 1 Byte patch (+resigning).

This would not have been possible without the original work of geniusan.

Installation:
1. Unzip Archive
2. Copy CommCenter to iPhone (via scp/afp)
3. Backup Original CommCenter
4. Move our patched CommCenter
5. Set Permissions
6. Convert M68AP.plist to XML
7. Insert a true value for MMS under capabilities.
8. Reboot!

This patch has been confirmed by numerous users as working - should it not for you please double check the installation steps and make sure you have correct APN settings and that these settings are sticking. (also make sure your SIM has MMS provisioned) - You may need to edit the Carrier bundle yourself if the settings do not stick.

Should you happen to get stuck at the Apple logo, then you need to pay more attention in future!
This will most likely be because you did not chmod CommCenter after copying it.

I did exactly what you have suggested...

I have camera button in messages, mms is enabled!1 Wow!

But only one problem...

There is no cellular data under settings where i can change my apn settings...

Is there a way to enable that settings tab?

Got Cellular Data under Network Settings... Now I can change apn settings of my operator...

Just added the lines in bold red color to carrier.plist.... (private/var/mobile/library/carrier.Bundle.bundle)

Hey, I just did this on my 2g and it worked perfectly, but does anyone know the APN settings for AT&T so that I won't get the message send failure?

Current Settings:
APN: (blank)
Username: (blank)
Password: (blank)
MMSC: http://mmsc.cingular.com
MMS Proxy: 66.209.11.32
MMS Max Message Size: 614400
MMS UA Prof URL: (blank)

Every time I send it gives me a message send failure, PLEASE HELP!!!

I'm in 3.1(.0).

Would it be OK to try it?

I really wouldn't advise it, It may work - but probably wont.

ok i really can't guess where. can somebody give me another hint to where the actual file is?

Whiterat, could I probably SSH to it and fix it while it's booting or does CommCenter control Wi-Fi too?

You should be able to replace it while the device is powered on as CommCenter will be loaded into memory.

Depends on your tariff and correct APN settings - this patch just enables the MMS ability, it wont magically add MMS to your account if you don't have it I am afraid
